Blue Heron Central Abaco

The Bahamas Billfish Championship launched it's 37th season with the Central Abaco Championship. With three days of perfect spring weather and ideal sea conditions, the fleet of twenty-nine of the world's top sport fishing boats caught forty-one billfish during the three-day event at Treasure Cay Resort & Marina.

The first leg of the five tournament series was won by Blue Heron, a Hatteras 50 based out of Key West, Florida. The Blue Heron team, led by Mark Knowles, gathered 1,400 points by catching and releasing two blue marlin and one white marlin on days one and two of the tournament. Team Blue Heron edged out defending BBC champion team Double Dog which also achieved 1,400 points catching and releasing five white marlin and four sailfish. In BBC competition, when two teams get the same point total, the winner is determined by the team reaching the point total first.

Looking Ahead - Harbour Island

With three marinas from which to choose your dockage for the Harbour Island Championship there are no longer worries about having to 'anchor-out' for this popular tournament. The newly opened Romora Bay Resort & Marina added another 48 slips to those at Harbour Island Club & Marina and Valentines Resort & Marina.
Registration, committee boat communications and image review will be housed at Romora Bay. The Anglers Meeting and opening dinner for the Harbour Island Championship will take place May 19th at the Coral Sands Resort overlooking Harbour Island's beautiful, pink sand beach. We will move slightly north to the Pink Sands Resort for the Awards Presentation and closing dinner.

A Reminder About Online Entries

For those who have registered with the BBC office to fish some or all of the 2010 tournaments and paid the $1,000 membership but have not submitted the entry fee(s), here is a tip that will eliminate some confusion.
The BBC's online registration and entry form automatically includes the $1,000 membership fee each time you submit an entry. However, when the office processes subsequent entries (after you have paid the one-time membership fee), the $1000 is removed and your credit card is charged only the appropriate entry fees for the tournaments you specify.
Remember, all tournament Entry Fees are due and payable 30-days prior to the start of each 2010 BBC tournament. The BBC Registration Fee is non-refundable. Tournament Entry Fees become non-refundable 30-days prior to the tournament start date.
