A Year in Review

Greetings!
Laura and Frankie
Laura and Frankie
It's hard to believe it's 2012. Every January, we look back at our year that's past and think about what we did well and what we're doing differently.

This year we feel great about finally building showers in our Capitol Hill studio and putting in state of the art new flooring at Shoreline. We did two outdoor classes, kids classes, tune up clinics, private classes, consultations, corporate classes, public school classes! It feels great to be out in the world sharing the yoga we know and love.

This month, we want to hear what you love, what you want more of, what you think about us. Watch for the "Race for the Review" contest on our Facebook page. We'll randomly select one review as the winner who will be awarded a FREE month of yoga. In the meantime, we've included some highlights of reviews made in years past. Enjoy reading them. We hope you'll write one of your own this month.

This month, we're offering a special to jump start your practice. Get the best deal in town with half off our auto-monthly (see the coupon at the bottom of the newsletter). We look forward to seeing lots of you in 2012.

Namaste,
Laura and Frankie

A Year in Review: The SweatBox

I couldn't have done it without all your support. So many gracious students moved to give me the coveted spot by the vent, and others provided the kindest words and encouragement. The teachers turned on the fans when I got hot, excused me when Iwent to the bathroom to cool down and even threw me a cold towel on occasion. This is what enabled me to keep up my practice during my entire pregnancy. Thank you all very much!

Angie- SweatBox Student since March, 2009

My favorite posture is Savasana. I like it when my mom helps me relax my arms and legs and fingers and toes. I'm lucky that my mom teaches yoga."

Lucia-Age 7 (Laura's daughter), SweatBox Student since 2004

I decided to try yoga with a friend this past winter, because I didn't want to stay indoors and do nothing, again. The added attraction of The SweatBox was that it was warm! I decided to give it a try...and fell in LOVE! I went to the doctor recently for a follow up. It was my first visit since starting at SweatBox in December. My Rheumatoid factor is significantly decreased in my blood, my muscle/body mass has risen, and my doctor believes that within a few months, if this keeps up, I can be down to one low-dose maintenance medicine as opposed to the five that are prescribed right now. I don't know how to express to you what a serious deal this is to me. Bikram Yoga has literally changed my life in a major way in such a short time. I am stronger, my body is changing inside and out.

Marissa, SweatBox Student since December 2010

The SweatBox is my cozy sanctuary. When I'm not feeling at my best, I walk a mile down the hill and lie on the red carpet, stare at the twinkly lights, and sweat it out. I love how welcomed I feel when I walk in the door and sit in the lobby before and after class. I love listening to the conversations happening around me. The teachers are the most friendly, genuine, and empathetic I've ever met, and the community is raw, and nothing but real; and I LOVE being a part of it.

Sheryl-SweatBox student since July 2010

Since, May of this year I have been living pain free for the first time in my adult life. I wake up feeling chipper and ready to go. I plan more work for me and my crew, because I can handle more, but something else happened, I started working smarter and taking better care of myself and my crew. It seems being more aware of my body has improved my responsibility for it and for other people's bodies as well. Well add to that a restored and cheerful outlook on life and I feel again like the world is indeed my oyster and this time I am wiser than ever!!! Thanks to all my friends at the Sweatbox for creating a safe place where knuckleheads like me can discover and heal from their battle wounds!!

Alejandro- SweatBox Student since 2010

During the first week The Sweatbox opened, I went. I was the 39th person to join, almost ten years ago. I truly feel a lot better, but most of all, I have a extended family at The SweatBox. I have watched the studio grow from sometimes having one person in a class, 3 people in a class to an average day of 25-30 practicing students in a class.I have completed 5 of the SweatBox 30 day challenges, one year even completing it with my back out. This past August I was 68 years old....... So, all of you over 50, know that you can have long and healthy life "through Yoga". I very seldom have any problems with my back, Yoga has become a very important part of my life, and by the way I just completed "October Challenge"

Melody W.--SweatBox Student since 2001

I have a new way of coping with life junk, and that is walking in the doors of The SweatBox and entering that 105 degree room.
I see that I never will 'arrive', that each day is an opportunity to do the best that I can with the body and mind that I have. I continue to have my struggles and frustrations, that's life, right?
I am so grateful to have found a community in Bikram Yoga and The SweatBox and I look forward to a lifetime of Yoga!

Shannon W., SweatBox Student since 2008

This journey has made me learn to "not sweat the small stuff" - literally. Bikram Yoga is a form of preventative medicine at its finest, not only physically, but emotionally as well. I am grateful that I am able to practice at The SweatBox as much as I do. Some (well...a lot) of the classes still kick my ass. Hard. But in a good way. Knowing about all of the benefits keeps me coming back.

Flavia- SweatBox Student since 2006

My yoga practice has given me the space to create solutions within my own life. Bikram Yoga has not only changed my life, it has changed my future. In December I was accepted into the Pike Place Market as a vendor and as of April 1st I will be officially working for myself full time, hopefully to be accompanied by touching my forehead to the floor. I have the SweatBox and my Bikram yoga practice to thank for the inspiration. I will be forever grateful.

Melody P.--SweatBox Student since 2008

I can safely say that after 3 years of pretty regular attendance at the SweatBox, I am hooked. I have dropped my gym membership and focused solely on Bikram. The results have been great. Last week, I went skiing for the first time of the season with a number of my younger lacrosse buddies. I out skied them by far, they stopped around 1pm due to soreness. In the next day emails floating around about the day, I was able to say that yoga was the reason I wasn't sore like the rest of them. I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them at the studio soon.

Matt- SweatBox Student since 2007

I have been going to The SweatBox for almost 6 years. I want to thank you and all your instructors for being there for me. The benefits I receive from taking your classes are endless. You help me in so many ways. I wish I could come more, but know that when I am at class it is the highlight of my week. Congratulations on your 10 years, here is to another 10 and counting! You are the BEST!

Parvanah, SweatBox Student since 2006
