NO IT'S NOT "SWAMP THING"! |
Danny Getting The Cool Shots |
Although this daunting creature emerging from the slimy quagmire may resemble the fictional humanoid mass of vegetable matter "Swamp Thing", in reality it's only mild-mannered Danny Stricker, hard at work doing what he does best. Yes at times, capturing underwater video for the Hook N' Look television program can be darn right demanding, even hazardous, but Danny and his Dad accept the challenge in stride. "Not only do we want to provide some angling awareness, but our primary intent on Hook N' Look is to present the experience from a fish-eye perspective. And that's what we'll continue to do!" declares host and producer Kim Stricker.

Strike King Rage Menace Grub |
On location for this particular shoot, Kim and his friend, professional bass guide Marcel Veenstra punch 1 oz. Tour Grade Tungsten weights rigged with Strike King's new Rage Menace grubs through the matted scum for chunky largemouth bass. The slender profile of the Menace Grub slips effortlessly through the slimy entanglement and the Rage Tails offer a lot of action and vibration on the fall, triggering an immediate reaction strike from bass positioned beneath the floating canopy.
Cladophora glomerata, more commonly referred to as Blanket Weed is a filamentous green algae that forms a floating covering on the surface in freshwaters that have been overly-enriched with nutrients. The canopy created offers shade and cooler water temps to largemouth bass hiding below. The real "eye-opener" in this day's outing was Danny's observations, disclosing the subtle variances within the matted mess from a bass' point-of-view. As customary, his camera detects the forage species present as well as their positioning beneath the buoyant cover to boot. Be sure to watch!
Hook N' Look Episode #7 will broadcast on
OUTDOOR CHANNEL in February 2013.
