WEEK'S RANDOM THOUGHT:

A man. And a rock. Little did we know, we could all learn so much from watching him do the same thing. Over and over again.

If we are to believe Greek Mythology, hubris leads to an eternity of rolling a boulder up a hill. Just when the top is near, the boulder rolls back down. Over and over and over again....Read More

WEEK'S RANDOM THOUGHT:PartI
...Sisyphus was a tricky dude. His punishment from Zeus would make our repetitive days seem like a spa day. In ancient times, deceit, lack of hospitality and murder were creatively dealt with. Forget fancy trials, media appeals, over-priced attorneys' and silly pleas: if you irked the wrong gods, you were sentenced harshly as Sisyphus was to a solitary existence that was all about befriending a rock.

But this week, I am  thinking about how we all face those steep climbs in our lives, where we feel that for some weird reason, when we almost get to the summit of something, we to have to start all over. We might slip, lose our traction, get frustrated, but at least we are not punished to spending eternity working towards a goal that is not attainable as Sisyphus found out. The thing about goals-- and the likely frustration that comes with trying to achieve them -- is that we will ultimately succeed. In the never ending race to accumulate things that do not matter, titles that lack human substance, and in the struggle to everything that comes along with finally accepting that you are not in control, success comes with something you probably could not have envisioned. You will be richer than you could have imagined if you do not give up hope. Eventually, you will reach the top.

Stuck as how many of us might feel, in our routines that we have chosen, there is a freedom to breaking free. We are not sentenced to some form of repentance or rolling the metaphorical rock up the hill. We are free to pursue what we choose.  It is up to us. This week I have cast away that metaphorical boulder and its constant notion with failure and am looking for a new way to approach what lies ahead. Unlike Sisyphus, I will make it and ask you to do the same.
