Week's Random Thought:

Small. Gestures. Count. Do we really need to be over the top to show the world how we feel? Do we need to have something sky written, tattooed on our body, get some celeb to hype it up for us, or can we simply give away a gift, something small, creative, organic, forceful, beautiful, and just leave it at that? Are we left with one day that we are to tell someone how we feel about them? We refuse to buy into that...Read More

Week's Random Thought Part II:

Be thankful for what you got it. Focus on it and not what you do not have. We don't need one day out of the year to elaborate  on our love, for all those people we love. We boycott this day, we love and share love every day of the year. This silly holiday is like a Christmas time for repenters, specifically designed for lame husbands, boyfriends, and the such that have lost the true message. We have it together, we show our appreciation every day. Life is like that...Read More

Week's Random Thought:PartI

Valentines Day is Bullshit. You know that. And, no I am not bitter. It is because typically we have, oh about another 364 days out of the year to tell someone special that we love them.  Most of us, dont pride ourselves on one day, one very silly day to say those words or show someone just how special they are. And seriously, what if we do not have "someone." What then? Are we to  be estranged, banished to Riverside or something? Should we wear the new scarlet letter of the new Millennium, S(for single, right)? Valentines Day is now commonly referred to as " Single Awareness Day" in some circles.

There are obviously conflicting stories on the origins of Valentines Day. We tend to gravitate towards one populated in this little country called Belarus that simply states this: the origin of this day is from the tragedy of Saint Valentine, who so distressed, so heartbroken, so annoyed she would not return his text messages, took a knife, to his chest and sent his heart to her. And oh btw, the heart was said to still be beating by the time she got it. The message, the origin, no matter how you look at it, is that this day is an opportunity to show someone, how passionate, how you suffer for them, how you love them. With or without a heart, we all still beat for something. For something that makes us feel so good, it might as well hurt. The adrenaline we all are expected to feel must be released into the world.

The challenge this weekend is this...save your faux-romance, chocolate flavor whatevers, overdone red roses, cheap Chinese made lingerie and overly priced dinner reservations. Do music instead. Seriously, go do something you typically would not do. Give the gift of live music. Music, like any worthwhile lover, resembles a presence that makes you a better person. It ignites within you something new, something different every time you listen to it. And did we tell you there are boatloads of gigs uploaded this week that I am guaranteeing you will help you set any, simpler mood to share this night with that special one.

Week's Random Thought Part II:

It learns from those that contribute on a daily basis. You do not need to publicize it, just do it. Just be it. Just be the change you want to see in the world like some dude Gandhi said...and those words never rang truer than they do this week. The change we wish to be is to help people find more live music. For you it is probably something different but we all need something to propel us to new heights. So you might not have everything you thought, but be thankful and go for it.

You see, life is about taking chances, about making your own playlist, about letting your heart open itself and connect with...someone, something, other than yourself. From the first girl I kissed in high school listening to The Police, to the latest party I dj'd, music has always been front and center. Seriously immersed in it because like love it can make you feel things all over you are not accustomed to. So this week's message is all about saying it with music. You know were not shrinks but we know music will help you get to the real down and dirty
, feel good, sensation when your "other" realizes your sharing something with them or playing something you put together. Show them uniqueness this week by saying it with music.

Hope. Belief and motivating some of you to listen to something you typically would not have is what we are all about this week. There is something to be said about change, discovery, and letting something or someone new, resonate within you like a deep red wine, and let it sooth you. You know what I am talking about. Keep it OG this week and do it your own way. Return a call, randomly pop into someone's life, drop a letter in the mail and think about your playlist for this week. Right it down, email it to us and we will publish the top playlists people send it to us. Let us know how you will seduce or be seduced by music this week. Tickle our curiosity and let us in. Help us and others discover something new this week  and share your music with us.
