This Week's Random Thought:

In ancient Segovia, Don Quixote wanted to be a knight. A man of measly resources, the body of man well into mid-life, he did however
have the spirit of a young knight. He dedicated himself to a cause. To honor a woman, that in all actuality, did not even know he existed, for the love and the pursuit of honoring her. Love. Music. Passion. Desire. All are very similar with an unspoken essence to all of them.

You can live by those words, make a wonderful contribution, and yet people might not even recognize everything you did for them. Not that you did it for that reason, but when you create...Read More

This Week's Random Thought:PartI

...there are a lot of haters out there. We feel for the bands we cover for Loudvine.com. Often, late, very late nights, accompanied only by the great music we are discovering with like twelve other people, make us feel, make us wonder, if anyone is listening to us. But like Don Quixote, and the bands we follow, the pursuit continues, because the quest is larger then us.

I mean, seriously, how do we convey with a few words every week, the bands we are rollin' with and how do we empower all you peeps to come out with us in their support? There is a quiet serenity that comes along with believing in what you are doing, regardless of the outcome. And I borrow this lesson from the bands we cover, that stay true to the music they make, simply because they enjoy making music.

See the lesson, like the music, must be about the pursuit, how it was made, how it was released into this silly universe of ours. So, we expect big things from our friends in 2009 and ask you come support these bands. So when people start thinking(again) that what we are doing is ludicrous, I can say, with a sidekick, broken down horse, and love in his heart Don Quixote went on to great adventures all to follow his spiritual bliss. Music is ours. Pass it along.

...now we cannot say we started Loudvine.com in our parents house, but just like Rudy, we started it because we love music. What started off one afternoon with a piece of paper, a tinge of depression mixed with boredom, is evolving into a way to build a true community around live music.

We had to be honest with ourselves. Build it, whether they come or not it,  it will survive because the music, like Rudy Van Gelder 's seminal recordings, is all we are about  at Loudvine.com. Rudy did not know when he first started doing something he loved that he would end up recording for Blue Note, Verve, Impulse and other amazing record labels.

So we continue our work, in the sole hope of connecting people through live music. Its not like we are some fools hawking the latest craze on Oprah, its music so come join us as we support the LA music scene.
