SAT Test Prep Classes Starting

Students interested in taking the SAT test preparation classes offered by FCPS Adult and Community Education should sign up now for the Saturday, Feb. 4 pretest. The four-hour pretest will begin at 9 a.m. at Lake Braddock Secondary School and will use full-length, retired SAT tests. Students will receive a detailed test analysis showing strengths and weaknesses followed by five, two-hour sessions of math and five, two-hour sessions of verbal instruction; and a four-hour post test with improvement feedback.
Class instructors are FCPS teachers endorsed in either math or English and will focus on opportunities for greatest score increase. Classes will be held at Centreville, Fairfax, McLean, South Lakes, and Woodson high schools; Hayfield Secondary; and the Plum Center in Springfield.
Focused instruction in SAT critical reading, math and writing are also available.

Driver Education: Behind the Wheel
|

Students can preregister now for the ACE behind-the-wheel driver training. Lessons cover skills needed to drive in residential, rural, city, and highway settings, and the class includes the administration of the Department of Motor Vehicles-approved road test.
Students must have completed classroom driver education or be currently enrolled with FCPS. Classes meet for seven school days and depart from most FCPS high schools. This course is required for licensing up to the age of 19.

7th Grade Jumpstart: TJ Admissions Test Prep
|
The winter/spring 2012 Thomas Jefferson test prep classes are being offered to students in grade 7 during the 2011-2012 school year. Participants should have strong mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills appropriate to viable candidacy for admission to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST).
Instruction focuses on admissions test-related mathematical and verbal reasoning, essay writing, and study strategies. Participation in this seminar does not constitute application, admission, or acceptance to TJHSST. Applying to TJHSST is a separate process. 10 sessions @ 2 hrs each.
