A Tribute to Bernd Eichinger
| | Bernd Eichinger |
Bernd Eichinger, one of Germany's most prolific film producers, put German Cinema back in the limelight with internationally acclaimed films like Das Boot (1981), Nowhere in Africa (2001), the 2003 Oscar-winner for best foreign film, Downfall (2004), for which Eichinger received an Oscar nomination as a screenwriter, and The Baader Meinhof Complex (2008). Eichinger's films confront difficult, compelling historical themes and testify to Germany's commitment to live up to its responsibility for the past. Eichinger died on January 24 in Los Angeles at the age of 61.Two of Eichinger's films will be featured in the ACE German film classes this term.
