This message reaches you today as part of our effort to support accurate and timely dissemination of Fairfax County Public School budgetary news. You will find a calendar of important dates and reliable links to regularly updated information.

The Budget, Up Close 
A face-to-face opportunity
Supervisor Michael R. Frey and Fairfax County School Board Chairman Kathy L. Smith will hold an informational  meeting on Monday, March 1, at 7  p.m. in the little theater at Rocky Run Middle School to discuss budget issues facing the county and the schools in FY 2011. 
 
Director of Fairfax County's Department of Management and Budget Susan Datta and FCPS Director of Budget Services Kristen Michael will present highlights of the budget, outline the budget process and calendar, and discuss how individual schools might be affected. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and to learn how citizens can impact the budget process. For additional information, please contact Michael Frey's office at 703-814-7100 or the School Board office at 571-423-1065.

For timely, factual information, you can subscribe to The Bottom Line, a new e-newsletter that will be sent to FCPS parents, employees, and interested citizens every two weeks while the budget for next school year (FY 2011) is proposed, discussed, and approved.

Incidentally, no additional funding is used to produce it. Staff from FCPS Department of Communications and Community Outreach prepare each issue and answer the questions submitted by parents, employees, and the community.
