Back by popular demand! Please join us for this chance to hear local writers reveal how everyday events - a shopping trip, a bracelet, a failed crop - shaped how they later came to view love, loss, life itself. This evening of Revelations builds on last year's filled-to-overflowing crowd pleaser event, Journeys.

Greetings!

Regrettably, it has been necessary to change the Penny McGrath and Students art reception to Sunday, November 8. We have just been informed that the County of Fairfax needs the entire lower floor of the Government Center for a massive flu vaccine initiative on Saturday, November 7 - the day we had reserved the space for the reception.

We sincerely hope that you will be able to attend the reception on Sunday from 2-4:30 p.m. nonetheless. Over a hundred paintings will be on display, revealing the full spectrum of talent and creativity she has encouraged in her students. A few by Penny herself will be hanging, too!

Penny at 2007 show

This will be Penny's last exhibition of student art, a special treat art lovers have enjoyed for many, many years. If you can't make the reception, by all means make it a point to visit at another time. The show will be up until early January, and the Fairfax County Government Center is open weekdays from 8 am -4:15 pm.

Hope to see you there Sunday!

Penny McGrath ~ Instructor Extraordinaire
Penny and her art students

Penny is retiring after 23 years of teaching painting classes for Fairfax County Public Schools Adult and Community Education. She plans to devote more time to painting in preparation for an upcoming solo show at Green Spring Gardens next summer.

Some of her longtime students posed with her for this photo at the 2007 Penny and Students Art Exhibition at the Fairfax County Government Center.

ACE staff and her painting students want to thank Penny for her unparalleled dedication to teaching and wish her the very best in all her future endeavors!
