Fairfax Water receives 2008 VAACE Award
The spotlight shone on Fairfax Water and ACE during the Virginia Association of Adult and Continuing Education (VAACE) annual conference held October 15-17, 2008 in Williamsburg. The VAACE Outstanding Workplace Education Partnership Award was presented to Howard Williams (retired) of Fairfax Water, who had led the effort to offer millwright apprenticeship instruction for Fairfax Water personnel. ACE workplace training staff worked with Mr. Williams to design and launch a multi-year instructional program for a trade area that had been previously under-recognized. As a result of the company and employee commitment to the program, over 20 employees were able to achieve Millwright Journeyman status and wage parity with other tradesmen at Fairfax Water. The VAACE Outstanding Workplace Education Partnership Award recognizes an employer's commitment to the educational advancement of employees through a collaborative relationship with a public adult education agency. |

Trade & Industry offers DPOR-approved classes for continuing education, contractor's licensing, as well as network cabling certification. These classes are held at locations throughout the county. Whether your training needs encompass technical skills for the trades, conflict resolution for frontline staff, or business English for your administrative staff, ACE has a class for you! Most ACE classes can be customized and brought to your worksite at a time convenient for you and your employees.
