Call for OC Arts Organizations!
National Arts & Humanities Month will once again be promoted by Arts Orange County this October through the coordination of a county-wide audience development program. Formerly called "Free Nights of Theatre, Dance, Music, & Art," the program has been newly branded for the Orange County region as "FreeFall for the Arts."
Patrons will have the opportunity try out new art forms, organizations, and venues by entering to win free tickets to arts activities taking place in Orange County between September 28th and November 4th. Last year, 28 Orange County arts organizations supplied patrons with 2,662 free tickets to live theatre, musical concerts, dance, film screenings, and museums.
Organizations interested in participating in FreeFall for the Arts are encouraged to complete this short form by July 31st. Patrons can enter to win tickets on FreeFall.SparkOC.com starting September 5th thru September 19th. |
LA Stage Alliance (LASA) has just released its 2011 Arts Census Report in partnership with TRG Arts. This summary of their multi-faceted research initiative on arts participation in the greater Los Angeles region includes Orange County, which showed the highest penetration rate of all geographical segments in the study. The census is drawn from data contributed by 100 participating arts organizations of all sizes and disciplines, 14 of which are in Orange County. While the annual data collection has the practical purpose of "cleaning" organizational mailing lists and providing a user-friendly mechanism for permitting like-minded organizations to share their information with arts patrons, LASA and TRG saw the opportunity to measure the input against US Census data to provide the field with a broader perspective on the demographics of their own and the region's arts-goers and the depth of engagement by the population as a whole. Participation in the Arts Census is free of charge to nonprofit arts organizations during the designated upload periods (including now through August 3). Download the free summary report here.
