The Annual Golden Bell awards ceremony will be held May 26. Two elementary program nominations were approved for submission this year. The Davidson MS Positive School Climate and Culture and the Coleman Elementary Father's Group have been recommended for recognition.
calif gavel appleResolution in Support of SCA 5
Senator S. Joseph Simitian  has authored Senate Constitutional Amendment (SCA) 5 calling for an amendment to the percentage for local parcel tax election approval to be changed from the current 2/3rds majority to 55%. The Board approved the Resolution and stressed the critical importance of communities supporting their local public schools as state funding reductions continue.

Superintendent Watenpaugh's Report

Superintendent Watenpaugh, reported on a 1-day Collective Impact Symposium he was invited to attend at Stanford University. He was honored to be the only K-12 superintendent of schools who was invited to join a group of 300 participants representing national interests from the business community, healthcare, insurance, cities, counties, and higher education.

Madrone High School was visited by a Western Association for School and Colleges (WASC) Review Team this past week. The team had a positive visit and it is hopeful that Madrone will receive a six year accreditation. Accreditation notification will be sent to the school in June. San Rafael City Schools were also under review this week by a visiting State

Categorical Progrom Monitoring (CPM) team. In addition to a thorough review of district categorical programs, the team visited two school sites to review records and interview staff. The two sites visited were San Pedro Elementary and Davidson Middle School. One of the reviewers commented that in the 17 years he has been performing CPM reviews, San Pedro Elementary was the most outstanding school he had ever visited. The final CPM report was presented to district staff.
