Smart Commute Updates

SCMRH ran a carpool contest during Oct - Dec 2010, promoting Carpool Zone at 12 active employer sites, resulting in a 50% increase of new signups!

SCMRH staff attended the RHCOC Open House on Dec 1^st promoting the newly launched Richmond Hill Chamber of Commerce Carpool Zone subgroup. A Markham Board of Trade Carpool Zone subgroup has also been set up to help Markham member businesses find carpool matches.

220 Bay Management has expanded their Smart Commute program from Richmond Hill to Markham! SCMRH staff were on-site at their 25 Centurian site in Markham for the annual employee appreciation breakfast event, promoting Carpool Zone and the kickoff of the Centurian Smart Commute baseline survey on Dec 17th. 220 Bay's original site is at 9050 Yonge St. Richmond Hill.

What is Smart Commute?

Smart Commute is an initiative of Metrolinx and the municipalities in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. We help local employers and commuters, like you, explore different commute choices like carpooling, cycling and transit. Our goal is to ease gridlock, improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions while making your commute less expensive and more enjoyable.
