Making pastry in minutes I've just been watching Babette do a practical demonstration of the highly impressive Magimix 5200 food processor and witnessed the speed at which it works.
Babette was making pastry at our staff training session in Reigate. I was reminded of how my mother taught me to make pastry. I'd stand at the kitchen table for what seemed like hours trying to mix the butter and flour together by hand without melting the butter!
It was a nostalgic moment for me as I remembered the fascination of plunging my bare hands into the bowl of flour and then the eventual boredom that set in as I wondered if the blessed stuff was ever going to mix together. I was snapped out of my recollections by Babette saying "that's it". The Magimix had done its work and what used to take me ages, it had done in less than a minute.
Progress indeed. To find out more about how Magimix products can save you time and make life in the kitchen easier click here.
Fun with cake decorating I promised to tell you about the range of cake decorations that we now have in the shops to titillate the cake decorator in you. So here's a list of what we're now stocking:
- Edible - Regal icing in different colours
- Edible decorations; glitters, sparkles and lustres
- Flower paste
- Icing bags and nozzles
- Cake pans like a giant muffin
- A new range of colourful cake cases in different sizes
- Boxes for cup cakes to give them as presents

And all this complimented by a huge range of specialist bakeware from Silverwood, Mermaid, Kitchencraft's Masterclass etc.
Cake decorating seems to be all the rage, so to help our customers keep up to speed, our chef, Paul, will be doing mini master classes in icing cakes at our shop in Reigate in late November. We will send out invitations closer to the event, but feel free to email or call us if you're interested on 01737 242 302.
