Beautiful Savior Lutheran Early Learning Center
Established in 1971

Pam Larson, Director
Spokane, WA
Beautiful Savior Early Learning Center has been dedicated to serving the children of Spokane's South Hill for over 40 years.  The school began in 1971 with kindergarten; the following year two pre-school classes were added.  We have continued to grow over the years, offering five or six classes each year.

In 1995 a state-licensed Day Care was opened to provide after-school care for our students.

Beautiful Savior Spokane
Spokane is located in Eastern Washington, surrounded by wheat fields, apple orchards, mountains and lakes.  The school and day care share a beautiful playground, overlooking a golf course.

The children, many of whom have no church background, are eager to learn Bible stories, songs and prayers of our faith.  Thoughout the school year the children present programs where families hear the "good news."  What a wonderful way to help families feel comfortable in a church setting!  For some, this is the only place families will hear of Jesus' love.

The Early Learning Center strengthens its connection to the church body through song and prayer.  The children sing for the congreation and for the senior citizens' lunch group.

The Kindergarteners plant and maintain flowers in a large planter next to the church entry.  In the spring, we provide a three-month calendar for all church members so they can pray for the children of the church, Sunday School, and Early Learning Center.

JulieJulie Klopke is the early childhood director and assistant principal of St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights, IL.  She graduated from Concordia University Chicago with undergraduate and master's degrees on early childhood education, elementary education and school leadership.  She presently serves as the chairperson for the Northern Illinois District Teachers Conference, on the Early Childhood Leadership Team for LEA and as the Early Childhood Consultant for the NID.

About the Seminar- "Don't be Good....BE GREAT!"
Lutheran Schools are changing.  They are not the same as they were 5 or 10 years ago.  Competition exists for our early childhood programs, and we need to strive to be the best program possible.  It is important to be known as the "early childhood center of choice in the community."  Throughout this day-long workshop, we will look specifically at what it takes to move not only your early childhood program, but also yourself, from GOOD to GREAT!

The cost for the leadership seminar is $20 which also includes lunch.  Additional information regarding hotels, etc., is on our website at www.nowlcms.org.
