Welcome to Christ the King, the first faith based center in Idaho's region 1 to earn 4 out of 5 STARS in the states "Quality Rating & Improvement System"! Located in the beautiful inland northwest, we get to enjoy the 4 marvelous seasons God has so graciously blessed us with. We serve 100+ children from infancy to kindergarten with 7 class rooms filled with love, exploration, play and Jesus in our hearts. Some of the diverse activities provided during our year long program, which runs from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, are weekly Chapel, music, bells, and this year Spanish class! Throughout the year the children are encouraged to learn through play and imagination. Providing age appropriate activities and materials, children explore the possibilities of being a doctor, engineer, archaeologist, or just being kids.
Our goals at Christ the King are to model appropriate behaviors, give children a sense of self worth, provide a loving environment and instill a Christian foundation. Beginning in our infant class children are exposed in the teaching of Christ through bible songs and stories. Throughout the years as a child grows and learns at Christ the King, building a loving relationship with our Lord Jesus is our number one mission statement. With the support of our committed congregation and the spiritual leadership from retired pastors, everyone takes a special role in the development of our student's Christian foundation. They not only share the building but the members donate time, Dennis White and our school board guide and support us every year, Mr. Tom Cornelison is our volunteer bus driver, retired Pastor Karl Petzke is our Summer Chapel leader, Lois Johnson is our #1 financial supporter, Jane Orto is our Bells instructor and many others donate their time and efforts to helping us become a great success in the community and in the Word of the Lord. Sharing a building also gives us the opportunity to witness and participate in the ministries of Christ the King Lutheran church. They open their doors to the people of our community and provide "A Safe Place" for children, the "Love Pantry" food bank (which we hold food drives for 4 times a year), counseling and spiritual guidance.
As we get ready to begin the new school year, we welcome back 97% of returning students and 3% of new families. Our reputation throughout our community and state, keeps us busy and full! Our waiting lists consist of over 50 families! The most exciting news is that families are drawn to Christ the King because of our Lutheran teachings. Although many children are churched, some regularly, some not, some here, others elsewhere; the truth is we send the spirit of Jesus home with every child. There have been many times when a parent has expressed to me that their child enforces prayer before a meal or they want to "pray" for grandma who is sick and in the hospital. In a world where morals and values are taking a backseat, we are so proud to be the teachers of faith, hope and grace. We are Christ the King! |

LCMS National Children's Ministry Conference
Sandals to Sneakers
The second LCMS National Children's Ministry Conference will be held July 7-10, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Orange, CA.
"From Sandals to Sneakers" is the theme of the 2011 National Children's Ministry Conference. Sandals and sneakers protect and highlight feet. The prayer ministry in preparation for that national event (and auxiliary and regional events) will focus on feet. Each month we look at our own feet, Jesus' feet, the feet of children, or the feet of those who serve children. Guided by a Biblical text ("light for our feet") we will then fall at the feet of Jesus in Prayer. The "footsteps in faith" section will encourage further reflection or action. The September issues are listed below and are available on the LCMS website at Sandals to Sneakers. Each monthly issue of the Prayer Ministry is available for download.
Vol 1 No 1 - Unholy Feet; Vol 1 No 2 - Imperfect Feet; Vol 1 No 3 - Adventurous Feet; Vol 1 No 4 - Beautiful Feet.
