A JOURNEY WITH JESUS-
THE REAL MEANING OF EASTER

The beginning of a new school year brings once again anticipation, excitement, and joy of all that is to come with the children and their families who will walk through your school and church doors. For some it will be the first time they hear about Jesus and for others it will be a strengthening of the faith that has begun. What each of you do so well throughout the year is to take the children "on a journey with Jesus".
Children and their families from Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool, Battle Ground, WA, took a "Journey with Jesus" during Holy Week. The children and their families went from station to station indoors and out of doors to learn what happened to Jesus during the week we now call Holy Week. Teachers and pastors were at each learning station. At the first station juice and matzos were served to represent the food Jesus ate with His disciples. Next was the washing of the feet. In the "garden" they prayed for help to do God's will. The next stations focused on the crown of thorns, cross, rolling away of the stone and finally the resurrection. The children carried personalized baggies with mementos from each station.
To quote Dr. Gerry Dunne, the director, "We were pleased to learn that the children retold the story of Holy Week with their families using the items in their bags as a reminder of each event. One little girl even went to the neighbor's house to tell them the entire story."
Children retell the story so well and in so many different ways to so many differend people. As the Bible tells us, "a little child will lead them." (Isaiah 11:6)
Many blessings this year in your "journey with Jesus" all year long.
