Bellevue ChurchPilgrim Lutheran Preschool is located in Bellevue, Washington, east of Seattle across the Lake Washington Floating Bridge.  It opened in 1993 in the education building that was previously the home of Pilgrim Lutheran School K-6th Grade.  The school has grown to 6 preschool classrooms with 115 students and 16 staff.  2-day, 3-day, 4-day and 5-day classes are offered for children 21/2 to 5 years old.

Children 1Pilgrim Preschool is an outreach ministry of Pilgrim Lutheran Church.  The majority of the chilren, 96%, come from the surrounding communities and other church families in the area.  We provide three years of varied curriculum emphasizing the key areas of development in young children; spiritual, cognitive, emotional, physical and social.  All classes are taught by teachers with degrees in education.

Students enrolled in the Preschool may also use Extended Care before school, after school or on days they are not attending class.  Flexible extended care begins at 7:30 AM and goes until 6:00 PM.  During Extended Care we offer 3 specialized programs:

Children 2Musicgarten- classes of music is taught by a certified Musicgarten instructor and features 2 curriculums; God's Children Sing for 2-3 year olds and Cycle of Seasons for 4-5 year olds.

Movement and Motion Classes provide the children with an outlet for developing expression, creativity, discovery and body control through exercises, large muscle activities, movement songs and cooperative games.

Spanish is Fun with Rosie.  In this class Rosie, the puppet, helps the students practice Spanish vocabulary and grammar and introduces Spanish culture in a fun curriculum.

Pilgrim also offers Summer Camp for 7 weeks in June and July.  Students sign up by the week for a Themed Curriculum led by our preschool teachers.  This year you can be a chef, a detective, or maybe an astronaught.

Children 4This spring we are excited as we will replace our aging play equipment with a new playground built specifically for 2-5 year olds.  We will also be remodeling to create 2 new and larger classrooms for our extended care and preschool classes.

Parent/child events include Pumpkin carving with Dad, Cooking with Mom, Art Exhibit Night complete with sparkling cider in champagne glasses, and Sibling Playdates for those that drop off older siblings for class and want to stay and play.

An ongoing mission project for the preschool is to collect coins for the Lighthouse Orphanage in Cambodia where one of our teachers does mission work each summer.

We do a lot of planting and gardening as we have a special relationship with the Bellevue Nurserychildren 5 located next door.  The school year ends with Preschool in the Park.  Activities for all ages are set up in the large grass field next to the church and preschool.
