Mt Olive Lutheran Preschool

           Changing hearts, changing lives, changing the world forever, is our church motto. Five years ago members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Forest Grove, Oregon were discussing ways we could bring those words to life. The economy was bubbling and 350 new homes were being added to this bedroom community of Portland. A perfect time it was decided to begin a Christian preschool.

            Prayers, plans, purchases, and many, many people made the opening of Mt. Olive Preschool happen in the fall of 2005. We had six students and one very enthusiastic teacher. Four years later we have 3 different classes and a total of 26 students. Twenty-six students whose learning is wrapped in the love of Jesus Christ.

           Fifty percent of our students do not have a church home so we are always searching for ways to share the we, the family connection; we have at Mt. Olive Church members choose a student as a prayer partner in the fall and keep in contact with notes, cards and prayers. The children sing during worship before Christmas and Easter so families are included in these celebrations. Pastor Bohlken meets with the children, and some family members, monthly for a fun chapel. Invitations to all church activities are sent to the preschool families. Over the last few years two children have been baptized, one family has become members, and some have gone on to attend Forest Hills, our local Lutheran school.  We are so happy that we can help prepare each child to live a joyful, productive, God-pleasing LIFE.
