Homer, Alaska is the setting of Faith Christian Preschool.  It's a wonderful place as I'm sure your preschool is to you.  Some of the things that have made it different from most of the lower  48  are looking out the window and seeing a mother moose and its young calf grazing on the rose bushes next to the door.  We also have access to sea creatures.  My husband, a commercial fisherman, brought us a large octopus to study for O"o" week! 

One year we had a preschooler whose parents were Iditarod mushers.  They came in and gave the children rides on the dog sled and taught them how they take care of their dogs and some of the race preparations they must make.  They gave each of the kids a souvenir dog bootie which is sewn for each dog paw for the thousand mile race! 

Oh yes, and the sunrises are beautiful and after the sun comes up (we are all thankful that it is now before 10:00 a.m.!) we can look out and see several glaciers.

Other differences are school closures.  Last year Mt. Redoubt was erupting and I had to close school one afternoon due to ash fallout!   Earthquakes are not uncommon up here either.
