Faith Lutheran Preschool serves children ages three to six and their families. We typically have an enrollment between 50 and 60 children. We offer morning preschool programs for three and four year olds. On Tuesday and Thursday afternoons we offer a Kindergarten Enrichment class for five and six year olds.
Faith Lutheran Preschool has an active preschool board made up of church members, four teachers with many years of experience with young children and is served by our pastors Roger Stites and Steve Eaton. We also receive support from our wonderful congregation who treat the preschool as a mission to the families of Sequim.
August: Everyone is busy preparing for the upcoming school year. We host an open house for all the preschoolers and their families the week prior to school starting. It is a great opportunity for students and parents to meet the staff and each other!
September: School begins! We learn that Jesus loves us through bible stories and song. Soon after the beginning of classes Pastor Roger hosts an evening Ice Cream Extravaganza for all the preschoolers and their families as well as church members.
October: Fall is in full swing. The children learn of Gods beautiful creation. We enjoy field trips to local apple orchards or the local pumpkin patch. At the end of the month we have a pumpkin party with games, crafts, and cookie decorating. October is also time for preschool Sunday at Faith Lutheran Church.
November: For the month of November we focus on thankfulness to God for his blessings. We prepare our own feast that we enjoy together and take a field trip to local grocery store to learn about food and where it comes from. We also in partnership with our congregation have a Christmas Bazaar as a fundraiser for our preschool.
December: It is time to celebrate the birth of our savior! In December the children put on a Christmas program for their families and our church members. We enjoy a time of fellowship following with a potluck.
January: A new year is upon us as we learn about Epiphany and Jesus growing up. Time to celebrate snow and all things chilly! January is pajama party time at preschool, complete with a pancake breakfast!
February: This month is the perfect time to focus on the love of Christ and how we show it to others. Valentines are made and we have a valentine party together with help from our moms.
March: Spring is here! (Hopefully)! It is time to learn about the Lenten season and how God made flowers, plants and birds. We host a "Dad and Me" pancake breakfast. The children and their dads enjoy a pancake breakfast prepared by members of the church. Birdhouse kits are made by our churches famous "geezer squad" and built by the children and their dads. Kindergarten readiness conferences are held with parents for children who are going on to Kindergarten in the fall.
April: Time to celebrate Easter and our risen Savior! As the weather starts to improve we focus on more outdoor activities such as planting seeds and flowers. April is a great time to focus on the natural world around us. It is also time to start registering students for fall and another preschool Sunday at church.
May: In May we celebrate the families that God has given us. We host a Mother's Day Tea for our preschool moms and ladies of the congregation. Sequim High School students who perform in the annual operetta provide the entertainment. Last year we were blessed by the wonderful cast of "Beauty and the Beast." Our decorations followed this theme. Ladies of the church provided all the food. This event has grown every year and last year was attended by over 100 people! In years past we have also participated in our community "Irrigation Festival Parade" during May.
June: The end of the school year is here, as we only attend school the first week of June. Time to review all of the memory verses we learned every week and have our graduation ceremony and potluck.
Time for summer fun and planning for next year!
We hope you enjoyed a year with Faith Lutheran Preschool!
