Don't Let the Pie Pass You By This Saturday, Sept. 29, Collegeville Farmers' Market, 460 East Main Street, is holding its first Pie-Palooza Contest, where market customers will decide which local pie bakers will win bragging rights and up to $100 in market bucks for baking Collegeville's most tasty pies. An exciting and expanding line-up of market-fresh fruit and dessert pies will begin arriving from some of our favorite market bakers and supporters at our 9 a.m. market opening. Tasting and judging begins at 10 a.m. For a $5 donation to the Collegeville Farmers' Market, judges can taste all of the entries and cast their vote for their favorite one. Judging closes at noon and winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m. While waiting to find out which Collegeville bakers will be named champions and go home with bags full of fresh market goodies, customers can browse the best of the season's local produce, meats and gourmet goodies and fill up market bags of their own. More than two dozen farms and vendors will provide all the inspiration you need for cooking up something special when you get home. And it's not too late to enter the contest. Bakers can register up until Friday, Sept. 28 or until all the spots are full. To register, email farmersmarket@collegevilledevelopment.org or call Maureen at 609-425-4713 for details on how your favorite recipes can win you the title of Collegeville's Best Baker and up to $100 in market bucks. |
