April 21st Market

Shop at the Market on Saturday--and Return to Longview on Sunday to Meet Little Lost Creek's Adorable Alpacas!
Once you meet these lovely animals with their huge, beautiful eyes you will fall in love, just like Alex and Sandy Frazier did. Little Lost Creek's alpacas will visit Longview from 10 until 2 on Sunday April 22 in honor of Earth Day. Little Lost Creek is both a winter vendor at Longview, and a year-round member of our Collegeville Farmers Market. Alex and Sandy will be bringing two of last summer's cria (babies) and invite you come learn about these fascinating animals and their fiber.
The farm will provide demonstrations of felting, with a station set up for visitors to explore this addictive art. The Farm is located at the former Willow Creek Farm, 3215 Stump Hall Road in Collegeville.
Here are the Collegeville vendors who will be at the Longview Farm Store this Saturday:
Mountain View Poultry Farm -- This week, Mountain View will have a new line of pickled eggs. They have plenty of all varieties, including dill, red beet, Jamaican jerk, dark & spicy, jalapeno, honey mustard, and their newest, buffalo wing eggs. They will also be bringing their turkey Swiss mushroom burgers and turkey bacon cheddar burgers--just pop these on the grill or under the broiler and taste the amazing flavor!
Another favorite from the farm is their turkey and chicken sausages. Mountain View has six flavors of turkey and three flavors of chicken sausages. These products are full of flavor but without the fat. They are great for breakfast, a light lunch or a wonderful dinner.
This week, Mountain View pastured eggs are $4.95 a dozen. They appreciate any cartons returned to them, and also accept other cartons as well.
Marie looks forward to having you stop by tomorrow!

Meet Maureen Cawley, Collegeville Farmers' Market's New Market Manager!
Maureen, who is a former reporter and has experience in promotion and special events, including creating family fun activities, will be helping us "get the word out" about our farmers market and planning special promotions and community education sessions connected with food, healthy eating and farming. She is is currently hard at work on preparing for our market's opening on May 5th.
Maureen says, "I am thrilled to be Collegeville's new market manager! When I was a girl, my father, a city boy, always had a dream of owning a farm, and on weekends, we would drive out to the rural areas to look at properties that were for sale. On those trips, I remember eating fresh-picked produce that was nothing like what we bought in supermarkets. I also loved the unhomogenized milk that was so fresh and creamy and the delicious homemade ice cream.
"My dad never got his farm, but those experiences taught me to appreciate what treasurers local farms are. As an adult and a mom of three, I've done my best to give my kids similar experiences. "
Maureen and her husband Troy have updated our market website landing page and are currently working to revamp and expand our website to include much more information. She is also bringing us into the 21st Century through her use of social media.
Maureen looks forward to meeting everyone on May 5th!
