Collegeville Connects News From Main Street
October 2010 |
|
TELL US WHAT YOU WANT!
We, Collegeville Main Street, are conducting a comprehensive survey of the people who live, work and shop in the community. Our goal is to find out what would make downtown Collegeville a more appealing place for people to shop and dine so that we can make every effort to recruit new businesses and support those that are here.
Over 600 people shared their thoughts in the first 24 hours that the survey was open. You are an important part of the Collegeville community, and we want to hear from you! So, if you have not responded, please take a few minutes and share your opinion on the types of stores, restaurants, and activities you would like to see in downtown Collegeville.

Streetscape Work Underway
Collegeville's Main Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues is getting a makeover, complete with sidewalks, pedestrian bump outs at a mid-block crosswalk, streetlights and trees.
During the construction, alternate parking is available:
- in the municipal parking lot located at Main and E. 3rd Avenue
- Behind 373 East Main Street (King Laird, P.C.)
- On-street parking on 4th Avenue
Our friendly businesses are open during construction. As Jenny Greenwald, owner of Greenwald Flower and Plant Workshop says, "Don't let the construction detour you."

Reaching in. Reaching out. Community. Fellowship. The power of making art together. The power of partnership. Join an enthusiastic group of Collegeville residents, local K-12 teachers and students, and Ursinus faculty, staff and students as they reach into the Berman Museum and out into our neighborhoods to help build community in Collegeville. The Partnership Parade Project is one path towards that goal. It's all about interpreting the theme of "Reaching In/Reaching Out: The Power of Partnership" as you, your friends, and your neighbors see it.
Take it to the next step! Join the group in workshops at various sites in Collegeville and on the Ursinus campus, where all will come together to turn all of the ideas into simple, fun pieces that can be made and carried together in a community Partnership Parade on Sunday, November 7, 2010 (rain date November 14).
Dates to remember: Sunday, October 24, 1:00 PM -4:00 PM: Community Open House and Partnership Parade workshop at the Berman Museum. Sunday, November 7, 1:00 PM start time: Partnership Parade through Collegeville. Questions? Please contact Susan Shifrin at the Berman Museum at sshifrin@ursinus.edu or 610 409-3031. |
