| Market Assessment Kick-Off Meeting Planned
On Wednesday, June 23rd, JGSC Group will officially kick-off the long-awaited market assessment work commissioned by the Collegeville Main Street Program (CMSP) at 6:30 PM in Bomberger Hall on the Ursinus College campus. The public is invited to come meet the members of the team, learn about the process and how they can help so that comprehensive results may be obtained.
Members of the CMSP Economic Restructuring Committee selected JGSC Group to perform market assessment studies after interviewing firms in October 2010. Committee member Andrea Baptiste explained why the assessment is needed; "This assessment is important for several reasons; we need to better understand the kinds of businesses that would thrive here, define our market area, gauge why shoppers are leaving Collegeville, and be aware of the reasons why people are simply passing through Collegeville instead of stopping here."
Brian Dubas, chair of the CMSP Economic Restructuring Committee is confident that JGSC Group is most qualified to complete the assessment, "Their background has been in mall development so they understand the shopping behaviors of people and what is sustainable. They have a great deal of experience in the analysis of downtown markets and in formulating revitalization strategies. They also have a firm understanding of the "town and gown" relationship, having done work in Hackettstown, NJ and Glassboro, NJ, both college towns."
For more information on the market assessment, to register for the meeting (though not required), or for information on the Collegeville Main Street Program, please contact Linda Flederbach, Main Street Manager, at (610) 454-1050, or e-mail manager@collegevilledevelopment.org |

So folks, click away and plant a tree! Can't you feel the CO2 being absorbed? Over the course of a tree's life, it can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide. Now that's a lot of hot air! |

Foot Smarts From the Collegeville Police Department and CMSP Pedestrian Safety Committee
Good Reasons for Crossing at Crosswalks:
If pedestrians only cross at crosswalks, drivers will become accustomed to stopping at those locations. When pedestrians cross the street wherever they feel like crossing it becomes dangerous because drivers may not expect or be watching for pedestrians randomly crossing the street.
Recent accidents on Main Street have involved cars stopping for pedestrians who are not in cross walks and rear-end collisions have then followed.
Fearing being involved in an accident with a pedestrian or another vehicle, some motorists are using our side streets through residential neighborhoods. This decreases the quality of life of those neighborhoods. Please use crosswalks. It's up to all of us to make our community safe.
The bottom line:
Obey the law, cross at crosswalks. You'll be helping to make Collegeville a nice place to live and work, and a safe place to drive. |
