This Place Matters: Photo Submitted to Photo Contest

This Place Matters
On Tuesday, August 18, just over 100 people gathered in front of the Perkiomen Bridge Hotel to be part of the This Place Matters Community Photo.  The photo, taken by Photographer Kevin Hoffman, was submitted to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for consideration in their This Place Matters photo contest.

Ten photos will be selected by the Trust as finalists.  The public will then vote online and determine the final three winners, each receiving a digital camera!

View all the This Place Matters photos at the National Trust.  While you are there, click on the Google map and map out a local This Place Matters road trip.   You are sure to see many interesting sites.

Living Statue
Fringe Logo

 On the Fringe

Join Brian McCann, living statue, straight from the Philly Fringe Fest, as he becomes part of the Main Street backdrop on Thursday, September 24 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM.  It should not be difficult to locate this living statue somewhere in the 300 block of Main Street; however, don't be surprised if he livens up a bit as shoppers pass by shaking hands or opening shop doors.

Brian will also stand proud on the Ursinus campus as part of the Tenth Annual Ursinus Fringe Festival.  Students, faculty, and professional theater companies will entertain festival goers free of charge with improv, dance, poetry and other theatrical performances in The Kaleidoscope Performing Arts Center.

The festival begins Wednesday, September 23 and concludes Saturday, September 26.  View festival details and performance listings at Fringe
Safety First Jason

The Collegeville Main Street Program's Pedestrian Safety Project sub-committee is off to a running start!  On Thursday, September 3rd, the group met for the first time and began identifying ways they could improve pedestrian safety in the defined Main Street District.  Over the course of the next year, the group will be carrying out tasks that make the sidewalks and streets safer for those using them.

What's this?  You say you would like to be part of the project?    Contact Linda Flederbach, Main Street Manager, at (610) 454-1050 or manager@collegevilledevelopment.org.  Better yet, join the committee at their next meeting located at the Main Street office at 476 East Main Street on October 1st at 5:30 PM.
