COHA Introduces Bill to Stiffen Penalties for Serious Poaching Violations
COHA is sponsoring state legislation which would significantly increase penalties for egregious poaching violations - including cases where poachers intentionally target trophy big game animals using illegal methods, such as bait or artificial lights. AB 1162, by Assembly Member Wes Chesbro (D-Arcata), would raise fines, authorize hunting license revocation and provide for equipment forfeiture for serious poaching incidents where violators intentionally break our fish and game rules.
