Transmission Line Project Threatens Hunting Clubs, Waterfowl Habitat The California Outdoor Heritage Alliance (COHA) and founding COHA member, California Waterfowl, are strongly urging hunters, concerned landowners and other conservationists to provide comments on the Transmission Agency of Northern California's (TANC) proposed transmission line project for the Sacramento Valley and northern San Joaquin Valley. Currently, all three route alternatives being proposed cut through California's Central Valley, significantly impacting important public and private wetland habitats. The TANC project would require a 200 foot wide right of way and would result in the construction of 120-150 foot high power lines and supporting towers. As currently proposed, all three proposed alternative routes would significantly affect key waterfowl habitat and hunting areas, including State Wildlife Areas and National Wildlife Refuges, private lands under state and federal wildlife conservation easements and wildlife-friendly agricultural lands, such as flooded rice fields. Comments are due by July 30th. For more information about the project, including mapping and contact information, please visit California Waterfowl's website.
