President-Elect Obama Appoints Interior Secretary

Colorado Senator Ken Salazar has been announced as the new U.S. Secretary of the Interior by President-Elect Barack Obama.  Senator Salazar is a member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus, and his family has salazarfarmed and ranched the same Colorado land for five generations.  He previously served as the director of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources.  For more information, please go to President Elect Obama press release..

While COHA is disappointed that California Rep. Mike Thompson was passed over for this key appointment which will exert major influence on U.S. Fish and Wildlife policy and the management of federal lands, for example, we believe Senator Salazar will seriously consider sportsmen's issues and perspectives in his new position.  We look forward to working closely with him and his staff in the coming months.
COHA welcomes it newest member organizations.
