Chamber Gives Away $1000 Scholarship to SAS Student at May Luncheon
Article by Andy Nystrom, Bothell Reporter

Scholarship Winner 2011

Brian Inch enjoys computers, history and woodworking. And knitting.

The Bothell Secondary Academy for Success (SAS) senior learned to knit from his mom and grandmother and notes that he puts a ton of effort into that craft. If grades were awarded in knitting, he would probably be near the top of the class.

"I rarely knit something for myself. I like to be able to make a gift for someone that they will treasure and cherish for many years," said Inch, who's currently knitting a sweater to donate to a local charity.

Inch, 18 - who earned a $1,000 scholarship from the Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce - graduate[ed] June 10 at the Northshore Performing Arts Center.

State Legislators went beyond the 105 day session to deal with some of the many difficult problems Washington State is faced with, including a budget deficit over $5 billion. Article by Lisa M. Hammel, Esq.
Williams & Williams PSC.

Lisa_Williams & Williams
In the current state of the economy and local housing market, many homeowners are choosing to remodel or upgrade their residences instead of moving to a new home.  If you are considering hiring a contractor to work on your property - whether it is to perform minor repairs or major remodeling - there are several things you need to consider beforehand.

1.       Is the contractor licensed, bonded and insured?

2.       Does the contractor have employees?

Summer is almost here and that means Bothell's LiveARTS volunteers are hard at work preparing Bothell's premier cultural event!  This year, in addition to over 50 juried artisan booths and the juried art gallery, there will be a Quilt Show and the art and music of local students.

Throughout the festival there will be live performances and entertainment, the very popular Children's Art Corner, where families can explore their creativity inspired by a local Chalk Artist, and a Beer and Wine Garden (hosted by your very own Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce!).

LiveARTS is seeking volunteers to participate during the days of the festival. This is a truly fun experience and all volunteers take away a festival T-shirt!  To volunteer, contact LiveARTS at  volunteer@liveartsbothell.org.

June Workshops to Introduce Draft Shoreline Goals, Policies & Regulations
June 23 & 29
6:00 - 9:00 PM

CityLogoBW

Join other residents and property owners to view and discuss Draft Goals, Policies, and Regulations that will govern uses, activities and development along the Sammamish River, North Creek and Swamp Creek.

On June 23rd & 29th, the City will host two shoreline workshops.  The purpose of the workshops is to introduce residents and property owners to draft Shoreline Master Program (SMP) Goals, Policies, and Regulations which will govern uses, activities, development, and construction occurring along the City's shorelines.

What are Bothell's shorelines?  They are the Sammamish River, North Creek, and, if annexed to the City, Swamp Creek, plus associated floodplains, wetlands and all lands within 200 feet of these water bodies.  Whether people work along, live along, or use shorelines for recreation, economic development, or fishing, all citizens have a stake in the future of shoreline areas and the provisions which govern them.
