"Bothell Business Owner Likes Making a Difference in her Community" Article by Deborah Stone, The Woodinville Weekly January 3, 2011
Leigh Henderson, owner of Alexa's Café and Catering, has been an active member of the Bothell community for 20 years. She devotes much time and energy to a variety of local organizations and projects, though she admits to being "picky" when choosing which causes she wants to support. "It's important to me that the organization is well run and that it has a strong sense of community," explains Henderson. "I especially look for those qualities."
The Northshore YMCA met the local woman's criteria and two years ago she volunteered to be on the organization's board of managers. Henderson had been a member of the Northshore YMCA for a number of years and really enjoyed the people she met through various fitness classes, such as Zumba, Body Shop and Boot Camp. In the process, she found other women to connect with and built a community of friends.

The University of Washington Bothell will host its eighth annual Nursing Career Advancement Day Fair on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Representatives of over 20 Washington state health care employers and educational institutions will be available at the fair to discuss nursing career and educational opportunities with attendees.
Of the event, Emily Christian, Assistant Director of the UW Bothell career center, says "Nursing Career Advancement Day is an opportunity for prospective students, current students and alumni to network with regional employers and nursing educational programs. Students currently enrolled in RN programs who wish to complete a BSN or those thinking of a career in nursing are encouraged to attend."
All are invited to this great opportunity to connect with current nursing students and discover what it takes to earn an AND, BSN, or MN degree, and explore employer-based resources to help support career development.
