Re: September 25 Paychecks

As you may know, Birdville ISD is in the process of converting to a new finance and payroll software system. The general account part of the conversion is near completion and we are beginning conversion of the payroll system.

As a part of the conversion, some employees will notice a change in the way their salary is listed on their pay stub/notice. Though total monthly and annual compensation will be unchanged from last year to this year, it may be categorized differently than on previous payrolls. This change will not impact total pay either in the current year or in future years. We also want you to know that this change of categories will not impact the amounts BISD reports to TRS or for federal income taxes. (This change is done for internal accounting purposes only.)

The September 25 pay stub/notice may include two categories not displayed on a prior pay stub/notice. Those are "CAP Stipend*" and "Masters/Doctorate Stipend." The sum of the amounts in those two categories plus the amount listed in the "Regular" category on your September 25 pay stub/notice should equal the amount in the "Regular" category from your August 25 pay stub/notice.

Note: An individual's paycheck may vary by a few pennies from one paycheck to the next due to rounding. That difference is reconciled in the last paycheck of each year.

If you have any questions, please call 817-547-5736 or e-mail at Robert.Seale@Birdvilleschools.net.

* This category only appears for those at or near the top of the teacher pay scale.

Birdville ISD receives "Superior Achievement" rating for finances
The Texas Education Agency announced on Sept. 21 that Birdville ISD received a rating of "Superior Achievement" under Texas' Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system. The Superior Achievement rating is the state's highest, demonstrating the quality of BISD's financial management and reporting system. This is the ninth consecutive year BISD received the top rating.

The purpose of the financial accountability rating system is to ensure that school districts are held accountable for the quality of their financial management practices and achieve improved performance in the management of their financial resources. The system is designed to encourage Texas public schools to manage their financial resources better in order to provide the maximum allocation possible for direct instructional purposes.
