Superintendent's Communications Council Questions

Bracelets for the Brave
Binion Elementary raised more than $650 to donate to the Candlelighters of Fort Worth, a charity that supports families with children undergoing cancer treatments at Cook Children's Hospital. As part of their social studies curriculum, Mrs. Jimenez's and Mrs. Aguirre's third-grade classes decided to make a difference in their community. After reading "One Hen," the students decided to turn a loan from their teachers into a very lucrative business dedicated to raising money for the Candlelighters. The students created a business plan, printed advertisements, wrote televised commercials, and designed beaded friendship bracelets to sell during lunch. Their hard work  paid off tremendously, and they are looking forward to bringing some light into the world of children facing such challenging times.
