Richland High School
Richland High School's varsity volleyball team recently raised $900 in their game against Irving Nimitz. Proceeds will go to help fight ovarian cancer. "Can the Principal" is a friendly competition between Haltom and Richland high schools. During Can the Principal week, secondary feeder schools are encouraged to bring canned food to their campus in support of their high school. Who wins? The Community Enrichment Center's Food Bank. 
Stepfanie Romero, second-grade bilingual teacher at Watauga Elementary, has been selected as the 2011 Texas Association of Bilingual Education (TABE) Teacher of the Year. She is being recognized for her dedication to the needs of second language learners and for her outstanding leadership. TABE believes Romero's professionalism and expertise in the area of bilingual education will serve as excellent qualifications to compete in the NABE Teacher of the Year selection.
