 "e-nlightened" each week so staff can keep in touch with what is going on across the district.  E-mail your pictures and a brief description to Communications and we will include them as space permits.

13th Annual

BISD Marching Festival

Oct. 8, 2011

 Fine Arts /Athletics Complex

 

 Join us for an exciting day of great performances as 17 of the area's finest bands compete in BISD's annual marching festival. The preliminary performances begin at 11:30 a.m. and conclude at 4:15 p.m. The top 10 finalists will perform between 6:30-9:30 p.m. All three BISD high school marching bands, though not competing, will perform an exhibition of their 2011 contest show. Ticket are $10 for adults, $5 for students (kindergarten-college), and $5 for senior adults. 

 

MARCHING FESTIVAL SCHEDULE

 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.  Preliminary Competition

   4:15 p.m.                Birdville HS Marching Band Exhibition

   4:30 p.m.                University of Texas-Arlington Exhibition

   6:15 p.m.                Richland HS Marching Band Exhibition

   6:30-9:30 p.m.        Final Competition 

   9:45 p.m.                Haltom HS Marching Band Exhibition

Texas Education Human Resources Day

 is October 12

 

Governor Rick Perry has proclaimed Oct. 12 as Texas Education Human Resources Day, a day set aside to recognize and honor the important contributions made by school personnel who work in human resources. Human resources personnel work hard each day to ensure that our schools are staffed with high quality employees and that those employees have a good environment in which to work.

They are:  Richard Valenta, Ed.D., director; David Bach, assistant director; Suzy Compton, coordinator; Paige Curry, coordinator; Lisa Vargas, administrative assistant; Billie Boles, administrative assistant and personnel services webmaster; Pam Worley, administrative assistant; Eva Miranda, administrative assistant - auxiliary services; Gretta Bacon, administrative assistant - workers' compensation and leaves/absences; Pat Bynum administrative assistant - SubFinder; Jeannie Perkins, administrative assistant - certification; Toni Powers, administrative assistant; and Babs Holly, administrative assistant - business/insurance office.

The Haltom High School Varsity Choir along with choir members from the Haltom, North Oaks and Watauga middle schools sang the national anthem before the Grapevine vs. Haltom football game on Friday, Sept. 30.

Read Around the World by Christmas!

 

Pack your bags and your books!  Students who read a certain number of books get to travel around the continents trying to make it back to Haltom City by Christmas.  Then they will celebrate with a party for our great readers at Major Cheney Elementary!

Coach Kate Goldberg, Richland High School girls volleyball coach, recently used Skype to connect female athletes at RHS with nutritionist Alysa Bejenaru. Bejenaru spoke to the athletes about good nutritional habits.
