Dr. Jay Thompson Announces Retirement
Today, Interim Superintendent Jay Thompson announced his retirement from Birdville ISD and education effective June 30, 2011. Thompson has served as BISD's interim superintendent since February, when Stephen Waddell resigned the superintendency to take the same position in Lewisville ISD.

BISD Announces New Starting/Ending Times Beginning 2011-12 School Year
2011-12 Start/End Times
Prekindergarten - A.M. 8:10-11:10 a.m.;
P.M. 12:25-3:25 p.m.
Elementary (K-5) - 8:10 a.m. - 3:25 p.m.
Middle School (6-8) - 8:40 a.m. - 3:50 p.m.
High School (9-12) - 7:30 a.m. - 2:40 p.m.
"After much discussion with community members, board members and staff, we feel this is the best decision for the
students of BISD," said Interim Superintendent Jay Thompson. "I don't like having to change bell schedules two years in a row, but based on what we learned this year, this is better for our students."

Grand Opening: Birdville Museum
Birdville Museum Open House is from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 12. There will be a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m. The museum is located at 6030 Walker St. For information, call 817-547-5498.
