The communications department publishes the employee newsletter "e-nlightened" each week so staff can keep in touch with what is going on across the district.  E-mail your pictures and a brief description to Communications and we will include them as space permits.
        
BISD Names Loan Finalist for Superintendent of Schools

 

At the regularly scheduled board meeting, Birdville ISD's Board of Trustees named Dr. Darrell Brown as the lone finalist for superintendent of BISD. Dr. Brown, 50, currently serves as Superintendent of Schools for Forney ISD. 

 

Dr. Brown has worked in education for more than 26 years. He began his career in 1985 as a secondary mathematics teacher in Teague ISD.

Birdville ISD's Board of Trustees would like to say thank you to the community and staff for their input and assistance in helping determine the profile for the next superintendent of BISD. It is because of your thoughtful input, the board was able to locate an individual who best reflects Birdville ISD.

 

On February 10, trustees hired Bob E. Griggs and Associates to assist in the search for a new superintendent. We knew the importance of having someone to lead the search who had a thorough understanding of our community.

Trustees Approve Two Principal Appointments

 

Birdville ISD's Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Jed Carleton as principal of Richland Elementary and Kyle Pekurney as principal at Smithfield Middle School at the April 28 board meeting. Carleton is replacing DeeDee Peacock, who is retiring at the end of the school year, and Pekurney is replacing Jeff Russell, who was named principal at Haltom Middle School on April 1.

 

Jed Carleton has been assistant principal at the Academy at C.F. Thomas since 2010. Prior to the Academy, he served as assistant principal at Richland, Green Valley and Walker Creek elementaries. Carleton taught fourth grade at Green Valley Elementary from 1998-2008.

 

He earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Utah University and master's degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.

 

Kyle Pekurney has been assistant principal at Richland High School since 2008. Prior to Richland High, he served as freshman academy director at Birdville High School from 2007-2008. Pekurney served as a social studies teacher and coach at Watauga, Smithfield and North Richland middle schools between 1996-2007.

 

He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas and master's degree from Dallas Baptist University.

All BISD varsity softball teams will be playing in the Bi-district playoffs this weekend. The schedule is as follows:

 

Birdville High School vs. Northside High School

Game #1 - Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. at BHS

 

Richland High School vs. Midlothian High School

Game #1 - Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Midlothian HS

Game #2 - Saturday, April 30 at 1 p.m. at RHS

Game #3 (If needed) - Monday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at TBD 

 

Haltom High School vs. Mansfield High School

Game #1 - Friday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at Mansfield HS
