Haltom Middle School Principal Named

Jeff Russell, Smithfield Middle School principal, has been appointed principal of Haltom Middle School beginning with the 2011-12 school year. |

Shannon Striders Win Three Trophies
The Shannon Striders from the Shannon Learning Center recently ran in "Joe's Run," where they won three trophies. Shannon Striders had a total of 25 team members participate. |
Congratulations to Elizabeth Shier, Academy at C.F. Thomas music teacher, for being selected to be a regular contributor to "Music Express" magazine. She will write lesson plans for a new series for kindergarten, first and second grades. |
North Ridge Middle School's Boy Choir Selected to Present Workshop
Congratulations to North Ridge Middle School's seventh- and eighth-grade boys choir for being selected to present a workshop at the first national American Middle School Choral Directors' Conference (sponsored by the American Choral Directors' Association) on Feb. 29, 2012 at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing Arts. Only eight choirs were invited from across the United States to perform concerts or workshops. North Ridge will present a workshop for choir directors on sight reading games they play each Friday in choir. North Ridge's choir is under the direction of Mary Jane Phillips.

ROPES Facilitator Training
Pam Miller and Brent Cumbie are hosting a ROPES Facilitator Training from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. on May 6 and 7 at the Shannon Learning Center. This training is open to teachers, coaches, administrators, and of course counselors at all levels. Credit is available for Gifted and Talented training.
