Students from BISD's cosmetology and construction technology programs are participating in the SkillsUSA American Spirit contest. This contest involves a notebook with a Community Service section, a Patriotism and Citizenship section and a Promotion of Career and Technical Education section.
Students chose to make a cookbook to promote the career and technology classes at the Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning (BCTAL). They presented copies to the board of trustees on Feb. 24, where they explained that the cookbook highlights each of the programs at the BCTAL. Career and
technology classes offer students a career that can help them work their way through college and succeed in their career choices. The students plan on presenting additional cookbooks to Chamber of Commerce members and to the counselors of the middle and high schools.
