BISD RECEIVES ACADEMICALLY ACCEPTABLE RATING

Today, the Texas Education Agency announced that Birdville, Francisco, Holiday Heights, Watauga, Hardeman, Porter, Foster Village, Green Valley, North Ridge, Walker Creek elementaries and Smithfield Middle School received the state's top rating of "exemplary" with 15 others rated "recognized" for the 2009-10 school year. This is the 16th consecutive year for Green Valley to receive this prestigious honor. The district went from six exemplary campuses in 2008 to 11 in 2010. In fact, in six years, BISD has gone from one exemplary campus to 11.

Recognized campuses are:  Richland High School; Haltom, North Richland, North Oaks, Watauga and North Ridge middle schools; and Smith, Binion, Mullendore, Smithfield, Snow Heights, Cheney, Stowe, Academy at C.F. Thomas and Spicer elementaries. All other Birdville schools, as well as the district, received the rating of "academically acceptable."

The Texas Accountability System evaluates the performance of each public school district and campus by assigning a rating based on three basic indicators of performance: TAKS results, the longitudinal high school completion rate, and the annual dropout rate.
