The Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) is having public meetings for school employees retiring before January 2011 on June 23, 26, 30 and July 7, 14, 21, 24 and 28 in Austin. Meetings are limited to 20 members per meeting. For information, call 800.223.8778.

Congratulations to Haltom High School for being honored with the National High Schools That Work (HSTW) Gold Improvement Award. Haltom is one of only 12 schools from the 1300+ strong national network of High Schools That Work that received this recognition. Haltom will be recognized at the HSTW National Conference in Louisville, KY in July. The criteria for the award are: improved mean score in reading, mathematics and science by at least 10 points from 2008 to 2010; at least 50 students completing the 2010 HSTW assessment participated in both the 2008 and 2010 HSTW assessments, and the population assessed both years is comparable; and met AYP or had a graduation rate of at least 85 percent (state-reported data).
