 Trustees Approve Watauga Elementary Principal 
Board0910
Birdville ISD's Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Jennifer Salyards as principal of Watauga Elementary at the May 27 board meeting. Salyards is replacing Sharon L. Heier, who was named special services consultant.

Jennifer Salyards has been assistant principal at Watauga Elementary since 2005. Prior to Watauga Elementary, she taught first grade at Foster Village Elementary for the 2004-05 school year and first, second, third, fifth and sixth grades in Lubbock ISD from 1997-2004.

She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Tech University.

Academy at C.F. Thomas receives the Stacy Hodge Award
Congratulations to the Academy at C.F. Thomas for receiving the Stacy Hodge Award for Successful Family & Community Involvement for embracing and building community around the REAL School Garden program.  They received the award at the REAL People Networking Event which is sponsored by the REAL School Garden program. Only eight out of 66 schools received awards.  ACFT had more than 250 community members, parents, students, and staff members come to help on their Garden Build Day on April 24, and they had the most local business donations of all other gardens ever sponsored by the REAL School Garden foundation.
 
 
Texas Rangers Teacher/Employee Appreciation
It's that time of the year again! School is so close to being out, summer is right around the corner. In appreciation of all the hard work teachers and staff do for our kids, the Texas Rangers would like to offer HALF (1/2) PRICE TICKETS for all summer games (excludes 6/26). Please feel free to send this out to all employees, families, and friends. The discounts begin on Friday, June 4. The password is rangers.

Congratulations to the Academy at C.F. Thomas for winning a grant in Kohl's National Volunteers Go Green (NVGG) initiative. In celebration of National Volunteer Week and the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, Kohl's presented a $1,000 matching grant to the REAL Schools Gardens project at the Acadamy at C.F. Thomas.

Resignation Deadline for Contract Personnel
As a reminder to staff, the last date for resignation for contract personnel is "not later than the 45th day before the first day of instruction of the following school year." The first day of instruction for 2010-11 is August 23, 2010; therefore, the last day for all contract personnel to resign is July 9, 2010.
