Congratulations to Daniele Clark and Spicer Elementary whose roof-top sleepover fundraiser inspired the TeachHUB community to come out in droves on their behalf! Every year, Spicer Elementary takes fifth-grade students to an environmental camp. In order for all of the students to attend, they do a lot of fundraisers. Last year, they had a coin contest, and for every $200 the students raised, another teacher was added to the group of who was going to spend the night on top of the school. For an additional $50, Rosie the Dog stayed up there too. The firemen took the campers up on the ladder and put them on the roof for the night. They stayed up there on a Thursday night and had to go to school the next morning. It was an experience the students never forgot and they have asked the staff to do it again. Danielle Clark and her fellow roof campers received $100 from TeachHUB to fund the extracurricular activity of their choosing.

A Season of Love at Haltom Middle School |
Haltom Middle School's theatre department and JITS Troupe #88650 were recently invited to perform by The Princess Alexa Foundation at the Ronald McDonald House in Dallas. The Princess Alexa Foundation was founded by Watauga Elementary teacher Crys Aigner in memory of her daughter. The organization provides dress-up clothes for seriously ill children. Haltom Middle School's JITS adopted the organization as their community service project for this 2009-10 school year. Some of the events they assisted with include: performing, playing and reading to the children at Baylor Children's Our House, learning how to make pillowcases for the children at Our House, and helping at the costume drive at Colleyville High School. In addition, the students raised and donated $500 to the foundation from their production of Aladdin.
