BISD Web LinkThe Communications Department produces the employee newsletter "e-nlightened" each week so that staff can keep in touch with what is going on across the district. E-mail your pictures and a brief description to Communications and we will include them as space permits.

On Nov. 30 you received an invitation from Gallup to participate in the BISD Q12 Employee Engagement Survey.
If you have already completed the survey, thank you. If you have not yet completed the survey, please take a moment and do so now. This brief survey should take less than five minutes of your time to complete. We are looking for 100 percent participation. It is very important that you take the survey to ensure that everyone has a chance to voice their opinions.
If you need assistance accessing this survey, please contact Gallup Client Support by sending an e-mail to q12help@gallup.com or by calling 1.800.788.9987. Support is available 24 hours a day from 6 p.m. Sunday through 5 p.m. Friday, U.S. Central Time.

Thank you for participating in this important survey.

Free Spanish Classes

Birdville ISD employees, including SRO's, can take free Spanish classes beginning Jan. 12-13 at the Shannon Learning Center.  There are beginner and intermediate classes. Classes are taught by BISD Parent Involvement Specialist Rocio Paredes immediately after school.  Pre-registration through ERO is requested so that materials can be ordered.

Richland High Technology Highlight

RHSDenis Jones has opened a whole new world for the homeroom resource students at Richland High School. They ask her every day if they need the projector to be turned on. "The projector allows anything I have on my computer to be viewed by the whole room," Jones said. "With the projector and the big screen, the whole class can view a Web site with math manipulatives before they try it themselves."  The size of the screen helps those who have visual problems see the material.  The students have been using Computers on Wheels (COWS) to visit the library of math manipulatives from NCTM and practice solving equations. The online practice gives students the use of a manipulative without the expense. During English class, students use Word to write stories. In addition, students in the computer tech class set up their own Gmail, Pandora radio station, and sent their completed work as attachments.

Providing positive, accurate and timely information and support is the goal of Birdville ISD's Communications Department. Be a part of the latest and become a fan of BISD on facebook.
