Technology:  Engaging and Encouraging

Check Mark"I frequently record my students' singing and upload the recordings to my classroom Web site podcasting page. It just take a few minutes to listen to the recording and decide if it's good enough to post on the Internet for the world to hear (music TEKS addressed - evaluating performances using specific criteria). If it is, I upload it and e-mail the recording to their classroom teacher, as well."

Mindy Anstey is using the iPod touch with the Deaf Ed students at Porter Elementary. They were purchased with funds from the Birdville Education Foundation grant they received. Students are looking up their vocabulary words with a program called "iSign." In iSign, the student taps on the word with their fingers, and an instructional video shows them how to perform that particular sign. Instruction Technology Specialist Dwight Goodwin is working with Mindy on this project.
