W.T. Francisco Celebrates 50 Years!
Francisco Elementary will celebrate its 50th anniversary on Oct. 8. The school opened its doors for the first time in September 1959. All former students, faculty, parents and community members are invited to the celebration. It will begin with a short PTA meeting at 7 p.m. The performance club will sing as well as the third-grade students. A special presentation of pictures from the past and assorted memorabilia such as yearbooks and PTA scrapbooks will be on display. For information, call 817.547.1700.
2009-2010 Grant Application Guidelines
The Birdville Education Foundation has established a Grant Award Program. The grants are to be used to fund innovative programs in which budgeted dollars are not available or for other areas that will enhance educational opportunities and results for Birdville students.
Persons eligible to apply for grants: Individuals or teams who are employed by Birdville ISD and are involved in the direct instruction of students are eligible to apply for grants. Teachers may apply for up to three individual grants per year.
The district's travel policy and related online forms/instructions are now available online on the Business, Accounting and Payroll Web site. Effective immediately, all district travelers will use these online forms. Please review the district travel policy and the form instructions. If you have any questions, please contact the business office.
The Tarrant County Health Department in conjunction with Birdville ISD and the City of Haltom City are conducting a seasonal flu shot (not H1N1) clinic for adults only from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.
On Sept. 25, all professional and paraprofessional staff received their first pay voucher for the 2009-2010 school year. Please verify your salary. Stipends are not reflected in your annual salary information. Stipend schedules, along with all employee salary structures, are available on BISD's Web site.

Debbie Lindley at Haltom High School was recently inducted to the Thomas Jefferson Athletic Hall of Fame. She was an All American Soccer player at George Mason.
