Drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic for Adults on Oct. 9
The Tarrant County Health Department in conjunction with Birdville ISD and the City of Haltom City are conducting a seasonal flu shot (not H1N1) clinic for adults only from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9.
On Sept. 25, all professional and paraprofessional staff received their first pay voucher for the 2009-2010 school year. Please verify your salary. Stipends are not reflected in your annual salary information. Stipend schedules, along with all employee salary structures, are available on the BISD Web site.
BISD is offering sign language classes from 6:30-8 p.m. beginning Oct. 1 at Porter Elementary. This session runs for eight weeks and is open to ages 11 to adult. Beginning and intermediate/advanced classes are offered. The cost is $25 per person or $40 per family. There is an optional sign language book for $30. Classes are free to parents of deaf children. Nominate your outstanding fifth-eighth graders to join delegations of distinguished students from across the state of Texas at the Lone Star Leadership Academy, a weeklong, TEKS-based, experiential leadership development program to Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin or Houston/Galveston during spring break* and summer. The Lone Star Leadership Academy provides opportunities for students to experience grade level curriculum during visits to historically, politically, scientifically and environmentally significant sites with a focus on leadership throughout. Participants must be in fifth-eighth grade, maintain an 85 or higher average, be active in school and/or community activities and receive an educator recommendation (your nomination) based on demonstrated leadership ability.
