BISD Receives Academically Acceptable Rating

Today, the Texas Education Agency announced that Foster Village, Green Valley, Holiday Heights, North Ridge, Porter, Richland, Smith, Smithfield, Snow Heights, Academy at C.F. Thomas and Watauga elementaries received the state's top rating of "exemplary" with 11 others rated "recognized" for the 2008-09 school year. This is the 15th consecutive year for Green Valley to receive this prestigious honor. The district went from six exemplary campuses in 2008 to 11 in 2009. In fact, in five years, they have gone from one exemplary campus to 11.
 
Recognized elementary campuses are:  Birdville, Francisco, Mullendore, Cheney Elementary at South Birdville, Stowe, Hardeman, Academy at West Birdville and Walker Creek elementaries; North Ridge and Smithfield middle schools; and Richland High School. All other Birdville schools, as well as the district, received the rating of "academically acceptable."
 
The Texas Accountability System evaluates the performance of each public school district and campus by assigning a rating based on three basic indicators of performance: TAKS results, the longitudinal high school completion rate, and the annual dropout rate.
