TSA is excited to annouce a new section of the TSA website "En Espanol" is now available here. This effort will enable TSA to directly provide children, families and individuals who speak Spanish, the opportunity to obtain essential information about TS. TSA "En Espanol" features an array of informative articles and videos designed to provide answers to the kinds of questions most frequently asked by individuals and families who have received a new diagnosis and like many others, are wondering what to do and how to manage.
For them, a translation of the video presentation by Dr. John T. Walkup for "Newly Diagnosed" is offered. Dr. Walkup offers details discussion about TS and co-occurring conditions, and gives much reassurance and valuable guidance designed to support families now confronted with making treatment, management and lifestyle choices.
There is also a large section of factual information about TS, including detailed "Q&A" information and a handy fact sheet now available in Spanish on the site.
Other sections include several translations of "That Darn Tic" the wonderful periodic newsletter written by and for children with TS. In "That Darn Tic"" children share their stories, coping strategies, and personal skills and interests. The kids serve as sources of support for their peers (and inspirations for the adults who read their words!) Now children and families affected by TS who primarily speak Spanish can more easily enjoy and learn from these great kids.
Adults and young adults are not left out of this new resource. The useful "Living With TS" webpage has also been included. Visitors there will find helpful information about a range of topics of importance to folks in this age group, on employment issues, benefits, and overall strategies for managing the disorder.
The TSA "En Espanol" website was developed through the program partnership joining TSA with the US Centers For Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). Outreach to racial, cultural, and ethnic minorities is a priority for the partnership, reflecting the CDC's interest and TSA's involvement in helping to address disparities in health information and provision of services nationwide.
Having already reached thousands of physicians, educators, clinicians and allied professionals across the country with live professional education sessions, web-based programs, conferences, physician training retreats, website redesign and addition of new materials, dozens of printed and electronic materials, videos and mailings, through the new "En Espanol" web section, TSA hopes to continue to provide its quality information and supports to those affected by TS in Hispanic communities nationwide and around the world. | |

La TSA esta entusiasmada al anunciarles una nueva sección de su página de Web en español que ahora esta disponible aquí. Esto permitirá que la TSA pueda proveer la oportunidad de obtener información esencial sobre el ST a niños, familias e individuales de habla hispana. "TSA en español" destaca una variedad de artículos y videos informativos diseñados para proveer respuestas al tipo de preguntas hechas frecuentemente por individuales y familiares que han recibido un nuevo diagnostico y que como muchos otros se están preguntando como pueden manejar esta nueva situación.
Para estas personas de habla hispana la TSA ha traducido un video por el Dr. John Walkup en el cual se discuten varios temas de un nuevo diagnostico y condiciones que son frecuentemente asociadas con el ST. También se ha incluido una presentación hecha por el Dr. Jorge Juncos en la cual habla del manejo clínico del ST. En adición, se han traducido varios números del boletín para niños titulado "Ese Dichoso Tic"Y también varios artículos para adultos con ST.
La página de la TSA en español fue desarrollada debida a la sociedad permanente entre la TSA y los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades de los EEUU. Una de las prioridades en esta colaboración es llegar a personas de minorías raciales, culturales y étnicas con el propósito de tratar el asunto de información médica dispareja y el suministro de servicios en la nación.
Ya habiéndose extendido a miles de médicos, educadores y otros profesionales en los estados unidos la TSA espera que con esta sección de Web en español pueda continuar a proveer información de calidad y apoyo a esas personas afectadas por el ST en esta nación y también alrededor del mundo. |
